How long does it take to build a pergola?
It takes one to three weeks to install a pergola. Before any construction takes place we follow a few important steps to ensure that your custom pergola is beautiful, durable, and hassle-free.
If you are thinking ahead, congratulations. When planning any home renovation, determining a timeline is one of the smartest things you can do to ensure your space is ready for your favorite seasons and upcoming events.
Bringing your pergola to life happens in six steps:
- Design Consultation
- Customization
- Engineering
- Permitting
- Production
- Installation
From initial design concept to installation, it takes about 3 months to deliver a custom residential pergola. Read on to see the full breakdown of the pergola process.
1. Design Consultation – 2 hours
Meet with us to explore the best pergola applications for your unique space. This informative and interactive session is free of charge, takes place at your home and features visual and physical models of the products we offer. Have a special circumstance? We will answer all questions and provide an exact quote.
2. Customization – 1 hour to 3 days
Select accessories and custom features to tailor your design. Choose from six colors or a custom color to match your property. After all items are finalized, you will receive a final price. Optional 3D rendering is free, and if used requires one to two days of processing.
3. Engineering – 2 to 4 weeks
The final design is sent to StruXure for site-specific engineering and stamped drawings. This step ensures maximum durability, superior longevity, and full compliance with local building codes. Snow and wind loads for your exact location are factored in to deliver lasting performance and protection against the elements.
4. Permitting – Specific to Location
We assist in securing local permits to meet compliance standards. This process is completed during the production phase and depends upon the requirements of your area.
5. Production – 4 to 6 weeks
Your custom materials are produced in the USA by StruXure within several weeks and shipped to our facility.
6. Installation – 1 to 3 weeks
Our team assembles and installs your pergola. Any necessary footers are installed, brackets are attached, and beams are placed. We ensure your louvers and all electronic parts are working properly and to your liking. We will stay in touch to make sure that you have no trouble operating your pergola.
Designing in Phases?
Breaking your project into phases is one way to plan for cost-effectiveness, particularly if there are multiple areas you would like to cover. This strategy may also apply if you choose to add experience features later.
Completing a Large-Scale Renovation?
If you are completing other home improvement projects such as construction of a deck, patio or pool, we will coordinate with these projects and ensure that your pergola blends seamlessly with your new design. We are able to manage commissioning of other specialty trades such as masons or electricians, or if you choose to install fire or water features as part of your experience.
