The StruXure TraX system: built-in channels that route screens and lighting inside your pergola frame.
Most pergola add-ons are bolted on after the fact — surface-mounted lighting fixtures, screen systems with visible housing, fans hung from exposed brackets. StruXure's patent-pending TraX system is different. It runs dedicated channels for electrical wiring and screen track hardware inside the structural aluminum beams of the pergola frame itself. The screens deploy from inside the beam.
The LED wiring runs inside the beam. Nothing is visible when retracted or inactive. The result is a pergola that looks clean and minimal — until you dim the lights and drop the screens and it reveals itself as a fully equipped outdoor room.

Integrated LED lighting
LED strip lighting built directly into the StruXure pergola frame channels — warm ambient light that runs the length of every beam without a single visible fixture. The wiring is concealed inside the TraX channel. Guests see the glow, not the hardware. Controlled from the StruXure app alongside your louvers and screens.
Motorized drop screens
Motorized Fenetex screens deploy from the pergola's TraX channel rails — descending between posts to enclose the space on any or all sides in seconds. Bug-free in July. Rain-protected in a September storm. Retracted and invisible when you do not need them. Controlled from the same app, the same remote, or your voice.
SOMFY motorized controls
Every motorized component in your StruXure system — louvers, screens, and lighting — runs through SOMFY, the world leader in motorized outdoor controls. One app controls everything. One wall panel controls everything. Set scenes, schedules, and automation rules so the pergola responds to the weather and the time of day without you having to think about it.
Voice and smart home control

Do I need a StruXure pergola to get the integrated lighting and screens?
Yes — the StruXure TraX system is a proprietary StruXure feature that runs wiring for screens and lighting inside the pergola's structural channels. It requires a StruXure pergola. If you have a different pergola or a standard covered patio, we can still install Aspect LED architectural lighting, Big Ass Fans ceiling fans, and Sonos outdoor audio — those products mount independently of the TraX system.
Can I add lighting and screens to an existing StruXure pergola?
Yes — provided the pergola was manufactured with TraX channels, which most modern StruXure systems include. We confirm TraX compatibility at the site assessment. For pergolas without TraX, we can install surface-mounted LED systems and externally-mounted Fenetex screens that achieve a similar result without the fully integrated profile.
What is the difference between Fenetex screens on a StruXure pergola and a standalone Fenetex screen system?
Fenetex screens on a StruXure pergola deploy from the TraX rails inside the frame — the housing is built into the structural beams and completely invisible when retracted. A standalone Fenetex screen system mounts to an existing structure with visible housing at the mounting point. Both deploy the same Fenetex screen fabric. The TraX integration is cleaner aesthetically; the standalone system works on any structure without a TraX channel.
How does the single-app control work?
Every StruXure motorized component — louvers, screens, and lighting — operates through the SOMFY platform. The StruXure app on your phone controls all components from one interface. You can also set scenes (a dinner scene that dims the lights and drops the screens at sunset), schedules (louvers open at 7am), and automation rules (screens drop automatically when wind sensors trigger). Alexa and Google Home voice commands work across all components.
What does the full lighting and screen add-on system cost?
The cost depends on the number of screen sides, LED zones, and additional products specified. A single-side Fenetex screen addition to an existing StruXure pergola typically runs $3,000–$6,000. A full four-side screen enclosure with integrated LED lighting runs $10,000–$20,000+. Big Ass Fan installation adds $1,500–$3,500 depending on model. Every quote is fixed-price after the site assessment — no surprises.
Can the outdoor lighting be integrated with my home's smart home system?
Yes — Aspect LED systems and SOMFY controls integrate with Alexa, Google Home, and most major smart home platforms. Sonos audio integrates natively with the Sonos ecosystem and through smart home platforms. We configure the integrations during installation so everything is connected and working before we leave.
How do the screens handle Capital Region wind and weather?
Fenetex screens use a zip-track edge system that keeps the screen locked in its channel in high wind — eliminating the blow-out failure mode of older screen systems. The TraX mounting provides additional structural support from the pergola frame itself. For particularly exposed installations, we specify the appropriate Fenetex wind rating at the consultation. The screens retract automatically when the StruXure wind sensor triggers — before conditions become a problem.
