Once you're ready to proceed, lead times on materials vary by product and season. Installation itself takes 1–5 days of on-site work for most residential projects. Does a pergola or screen room require a permit in New York State?
Permit requirements vary by municipality in New York State. Some outdoor structures require permits; others don't, depending on size, attachment method, and your local zoning code. We handle this in the consultation — we know the permit landscape across our service area and will tell you exactly what's required for your specific project and municipality before any work begins.
What's the difference between a screen room and a three-season room?
A screen room is a fully enclosed space with insect-barrier screening on the walls — providing fresh air and bug protection without climate control. A three-season room adds weatherproofing and typically heating, extending the usable season significantly — from roughly April through November in Upstate New York's climate. We'll walk you through both options in the consultation based on how you plan to use the space.
When is the best time to start an outdoor living project in Upstate New York?
The honest answer: now, regardless of season. Winter and early spring are our busiest design and quote months because installation slots fill quickly once the ground thaws. Summer projects can still be scheduled, and many motorized pergola and retractable screen installations happen September through November — giving homeowners ready spaces for the following spring.
